  • Presented her paper "Feminist *Annotations*: A Performative Lecture," about her rock musical adaptation of Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew, at the Mid-Atlantic Theatre Conference in March.
  • Worked on another adaptation of Shakespeare featuring the students of CSU entitled The Gentle Villainy of Richard III, Troubler of the Poor World's Peace. This piece was performed in the Outcalt Theatre from April 21 – May 1.

  • This May Pose A Continuing Threat, screened at the Renegade Film Festival in March 2022. This film was an official selection and was also nominated for the Best Catharsis Film.

Anita also attended the festival and did a Q&A after the screening.

Richard M. Perloff; Professor, School of Communication

Richard M. Perloff (Communication) and Anup Kumar (Communication) published an article in Journalism Practice examining the history and changing meaning of Watergate 50 years after The Washington Post investigations. Perloff also has an in-press critical integration of the storied agenda-setting effect in the journal Mass Communication and Society. In addition, he applied scholarly research in an article, Improving the culture of policing, that considered implications of the classic Milgram experiments, in The Plain Dealer in March.

  • Hilary Plum presented on contemporary prose writing from Philadelphia at the annual AWP Conference, March 2022 and has a forthcoming essay collection Hole Studies announced for release in October 2022.

Dr. Skladany was appointed as a council member of the Ohio Council on ​Holocaust and Genocide Education.

Dr. Phillip Wanyerka was appointed Program Director for Anthropology in Fall 2021.

Fieldwork:

  • Supervisor and Principal Investigator. Archaeological Investigations at Hale Farm and Village, Summit County, Summit County, Ohio. In association with the Western Reserve  Historical Society. Will be conducting a Phase I and Phase II archaeological survey (Summer 2022) of the lower flood plain at Hale Farm.

Highlighted Project

Drughelp.care was created for the community affected by the opioid crisis by Dr. Miyuki Fukushima Tedor and Dr. Patricia Stoddard Dare in 2016. They met with over 100 community members over the years to develop the website. The technical specifications were designed by engineering graduate students with Dr. Wenbing Zhao, and they continue to refine and improve the website.

It is a free website that allows drug treatment providers to list the number of open treatment slots daily. The site is fully searchable, and quickly and efficiently matches substance users with the best available treatment services. Thanks to funding from the Woodruff Foundation (2018-2019) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (2019-present), a community outreach team has registered over 100 treatment provider agencies and 500 treatment services. Treatment providers can register different types of services, including assessment, outpatient treatment, intensive outpatient treatment, partial hospitalization, residential treatment, inpatient treatment, sober living, harm reduction, and peer and family support.

The multidisciplinary drughelp.care team continues to enhance and add features to the website with the help from professors Sathish Kumar and Anne H. Berry.
