David Yost has been involved in professional audio, recording, music retail, and electronic music for over forty years. He has been with the Cleveland State University music department since 1999 and is responsible for all music department recordings and amplified events.
David has engineered hundreds of classical music concerts and recitals, as well as numerous recording sessions in the beautiful acoustic halls at CSU. He has been the recording engineer for the world renowned Cleveland Chamber Symphony for nineteen years. In 2007, he received a Grammy Award as the engineer of the recording Oseaux Exotiques by Oliver Messiaen, featuring CSU’s own Angelin Chang, pianist, with the Cleveland Chamber Symphony.
Other notables David has recorded include the Cleveland Philharmonic Orchestra, the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra, Cleveland Winds, Cleveland Chamber Choir, Alarm Will Sound, Almeda Trio, ARS Futura, Clocks in Motion, Either Orchestra, Factory Seconds, Halida Dinova, Hub New Music, Iron Toys, Jack Quartet, John Perrine Quartet, Meridian Arts Ensemble, No Exit, Panoramicos, Robert Cassidy, Slee Sinfonietta, Velvet Brown, West Shore Chorale, and Zeitgeist.
In addition to his duties at CSU, David currently owns and operates a live-remote recording service, Concerto Recording, through which he has mastered over seven hundred commercial CD releases and engineered hundreds of live remote recordings.
For diversion, Mr. Yost enjoys amateur radio, model railroading, and driving sport cars.
