The Musical Theater Project fosters a deep appreciation of the American Musical and the cultural and social history that surrounds it by creating and presenting programs that educate as well as entertain people of all ages. To explore the importance of the American musical, TMTP:

The Musical Theater Project

  • PRODUCES original programs surveying 100 years of stage and screen musicals
  • INSPIRES audiences across generations to discover this uniquely American art form
  • PRESERVES the significant contributions of musical theater artists

Whether on stage, in schools, or on the radio or a recording, TMTP’s programs open hearts and minds to the many ways musicals enrich our lives and communities.

Total Number Served Annually: 15,000

TMTP offers these education programs: Kids Love Musicals! (KLM): Through KLM school residency programs, TMTP helps students use imagination, creativity and reasoning skills to learn more about themselves and the world around them through several classic fairy-tale musicals: Cinderella, Peter Pan, The Wizard of Oz, The Jungle Book and You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown. KLM uses musical theater—which combines music, movement and dramatic play—to engage students in active learning experiences
centered around national Common Core, State of Ohio English Language Arts curriculum standards and Social and Emotional Learning outcomes. The program also uses a Universal Design for Learning framework that incorporates visual supports, singing, dancing, group discussion, reading prompts and lessons related to a musical’s themes. Programs serve youth to senior adults.
