Annual Marilyn Bianchi Kids' Playwriting Festival for Cuyahoga County youngsters Grade 1-12. The oldest kids' playwriting festival in the country, The Marilyn Bianchi Kids' Playwriting Festival (MBKPF) is entering its 38th year of producing plays written by kids! Hundreds of original plays in any category are submitted by students living in Cuyahoga County, whether home-schooled or attending a public, private or charter school. Each play is read by at least three readers. Prizes are awarded on the basis of imagination and human values as much as for playwriting skills. Around twenty winning plays are chosen , half of which are produced during the FREE festival that takes place the first weekend in June. For more information, go to:

Dobama Emerging Actors Program (DEAP) for Grade 8 to early college students. Dobama continues its commitment to education programming through DEAP, its summer intensive acting program for high school and college students. DEAP's productions are centered on ensemble building, character development, storytelling and communications - and are performed in blackbox style in the intimate Dobama Theatre. Productions based on heightened text and/or classical repertoire through a three-year rotation cycle of Greek Drama, Modern Heightened Text, and Shakespeare. DEAP faculty broaden each student's understanding of the art and technique of acting. They have both extensive professional experience and degrees from respected performing arts program, in recent years coming from the Cleveland Play House MFA Program and programs at Case Western Reserve University and Baldwin Wallace University. DEAP's seventh season takes place this year from July 5, 2016 to July 31, 2016. For more information, go to:
